This is honestly what keeps me motivated every morning. This is what makes me get up in the morning and put my work out clothes on.

October 1st (well almost).

Yes I realize that today isn’t actually October first but I live on the East Coast so in a matter of hours it will really be October 1st. So why am I starting this blog? Accountability. I need it. BADLY. I have wanted to write a blog about my weight loss (and throw in tidbits of my life! lol) for years now but I never mustered up the motivation to do it but I feel like now is the time. I just made a huge move from the West Coast to the East Coast to go to graduate school which has been a major change for me and so I figure if I’m motivated enough to move across the country for school then I am definitely motivated enough to start an official blog!

A quick recap of my weight loss is that I’m 5 foot 2 and through high school I was always slightly overweight but nothing too extreme. I was probably about 149 up until my Junior year where I decided I wanted to lose weight (well actually I had wanted to lose weight before this time…it just never happened) and I got down to about 133 (no tricky diets or over exercising — I did things the basic way —increasing exercise….decreasing unhealthy foods). Needless to say that lasted for all of two weeks before I started gaining it back. In addition to gaining my weight back I gained even more because I got a job at Jamba Juice the summer before Senior year and I swear to you that I ate my weight in baked goods and smoothies all summer and the entire last year before graduation. My weight got up to 170. The summer before college I decided yet again to try to slim down and got down to 155 before I started as a freshman. Unfortunately along with being a freshman comes the dreaded freshman 15 25. My Sophomore and Junior years I hovered around 170/180 when finally I knocked some sense into myself and realized that being 180 pounds and 5 foot 2 was a seriously unhealthy state of being. This got me down to 148 right before my graduation in my Senior year. This summer I fluctuated between 150 and 153 which wasn’t too bad until I moved about a month ago. I was so depressed and confused about moving to the East Coast that I pretty much ate my way through my first month here. That being said I am hovering around 156/157 and I know if I don’t get my act together soon I can be right back to where I started. My goal was and has always been to get down to 135 pounds. I know what I looked and felt like when I was 135 (even though that was a long….looooong time ago) and I loved it. I was still curvy but I felt fit and healthy — the complete opposite of what I feel now. Tomorrow I get on that scale, face the music, say goodbye to scarfing down whole pizzas and mini cartons of ice cream, and instead say hello to a healthier happier me :) I know I just said a whole bunch in a small amount of space but I intend to give more details about everything as it unfolds — I just wanted you guys to be caught up on my track record. My goal is blog everyday and talk about what I’m eating, my exercise, and my life in general…that way I can use this blog as constant motivation (and hopefully it help you too!!)
